Companioneer*
One who walks beside you through creative terrain—listening, responding, holding space.

I’m a mixer and co-creator with a soft spot for texture, nuance, and music that doesn’t quite fit the mould.

As a working artist myself, I know what it’s like to hand over something personal—and how much it matters that it’s handled with care, curiosity, and humility. I help preserve—and fan—the spark that makes your music yours.

Whether you’re chasing clarity, character, or a little chaos, I’ll help shape your work without sanding off the edges. I don’t believe in over-mixing or under-listening. I believe in sitting with a track until it opens up and shows us where it wants to go. So long as deadlines are met, I am “care over clock.”

You don’t need to be experimental to sound original. But even simple songs deserve to be unforgettable, and I take pleasure in exploring the edges to reveal something more honest, more alive—above all, something unmistakably you.

About Me

My first setup was the recording computer my first band won in a battle of the bands. Being the drummer, guess whose basement that computer hung out in. Good times.

Since then I’ve mixed records, captured and post-produced sound for film, built interactive audio-visual installations, carried field recorders to cool places from Bamfield, British Columbia, to geothermal geysers in Hokkaido, and stuck hydrophones in at least four different bodies of water. I’ve worked with post houses and filmmakers, folkies and progheads, experimentalists and noise-makers.

In my own music, I love texture. I don’t have synesthesia, but I feel like I can see the music anyway, and I enjoy thinking in space and layers. My experience with film sound, field recording, and my interest in avant musics like musique concrète imbue my own work with a journey-like, almost cinematic feel.

I’m a Deep Listener and a fan of the long route when it leads somewhere honest. I like songs that make me feel something in my chest. I like process, and I’m a fan of Rick Rubin, if that paints a picture. Above all, I like working with people who are willing to dig. I hope you do too!

Oh, and I LOVE downhill mountain biking.

Some of my favourite artists in no particular order: Björk, David Bowie, Sufjan Stevens, Dan Deacon, Laurie Anderson, Tim Hecker, Destroyer, Rafael Anton Irisarri, Faunts, Slowdive, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Travis, Coldplay, Ben Folds, The Tragically Hip, Gardens & Villa, Alabaster Deplume, Hiatus Kaiyote, Devendra Banhart, Devin Townsend, Okada Takuro, OOIOO (saw them in Tokyo!), Radiohead, Death Grips, Klô Pelgag, Flying Lotus, Meshuggah, Porcupine Tree, Rush, Tool, Akron/Family, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Tommy Cash, Autechre, Brian Blade, and so, so many more…
